What is a Chemical Peel?
Glycolic (AHA) and Salicylic (BHA) are the most common forms of chemical
peels often called lunch time peels. TCA and Jessners are deeper peels that
require a bit of down time.
Will a chemical peel help my skin?:
Chemical Peels use a precise chemical solution to remove the damaged outer
layers of the skin, revealing a bright, healthy, more vibrant complexion.
Chemical peels can dramatically improve the appearance of fine lines,
wrinkles, hyperpigmentation, skin tone and texture. In some cases peels can
elimate precancerous lesions. Chemical Peels can benefit all complexions,
even the most sensitive, and can be performed on any part of the body, while
full body peels are growing in popularity.
The most commonly peeled areas
are:
• Face
•
Hands
•
Chest
Can I go out into the sun after having a chemical peel?
Sun exposure is never recommended! Sunscreen must be worn after
the peel as your skin will likely be a little more sensitive to sun
exposure. Waterproof SPF is necessary if you are going to be outdoors. For optimal protection, add a SunPro hat.
How many chemical peels should I have and how often is it recommended?
Most clients do SIX peels 3-4 weeks apart and then maintain by having a peel
performed every four to eight weeks which provides optimal results.
Who is the ideal candidate for a Chemical Peel?
Individuals wanting to improve the overall quality of their complexion and
correct specific skin conditions may be good candidates for a chemical peel.
Skin type and color, ethnic background and age are factors in determining
which type of chemical peel would be appropriate.
